Stakeholder perspective – investment consultants: ‘the need to collaborate to ensure supply meets demand’

This chapter sets out the role of investment consultants in the proliferation of responsible investment (RI). Investment consultants represent a key part of the investment chain as advisors to trustees and investment committees of pension funds and other institutional asset owners. Consequently, their ability to provide advice to asset owners on RI issues is important not only for the legitimacy of RI at the investment committee level, but also to ensure that the skills and tools are available to implement policies in an effective manner.
