About 75-80 percent of the population lives in rural areas. Bangladesh is a market-based economic system. The values and aspirations enshrined in theConstitution are basically liberal (socialdemocratic) and therefore Euro-centric. People in general are religious. The state has honored the religious values of its citizens and has attempted to guarantee religious liberty in the Constitution.
