Abstract

“Little Italies never die.” So writes the urban sociologist Jerome Krase, who has dedicated years of research and numerous publications to this theme. 1 The first question that I would like to pose in this context is why Little Italies endured in such an iconic way, while the other ethnic neighborhoods born of the Great Migration proved so short-lived.
