ABSTRACT
This chapter will outline the policy and legislative responses to hate crime in the United Kingdom. It will concentrate on England and Wales, as Scotland and Northern Ireland have independent legislative and judicial procedures, however it should be stated that the devolved legislatures have broadly similar natures and some functions such as foreign policy responses are shared.
