ABSTRACT

A very brief history of Russian gifted education sets the scene for this chapter’s exploration of two successfully implemented techniques for developing talent. In Russia, the year 1958 is generally acknowledged to be the year that we started knowingly to attempt the successful identification and provision for gifted children. It was the beginning of Russian liberalism, and the successes of our space programme propelled Russia visibly to the forefront of international public recognition in the field of scientific progress.
