ABSTRACT

Those of us in the field of Gifted Education need to be more like George Bernard Shaw’s tailor. We must develop forward-looking programming options for all students, and especially for those with high potential whose needs must be met in appropriate and flexible ways. The twenty-first century presents unique challenges and will require answers to questions that have not yet been formulated. We know that political, business and religious leaders worldwide are clamouring for individuals who can work collaboratively with others, think critically and creatively, and solve complex problems. If our challenge is, as often expressed, to ‘prepare the leaders of tomorrow’, the task has never been more formidable.
