Lawyers Anna Rose and Amanda McKenzie created the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) in November 2006. Members are easily spotted at climate movement events in their sky-blue and white AYCC ‘Climate Action Now’ t-shirts. AYCC claims to have over 70,000 members and to function as a climate action coalition for about 27 other youth organizations, including the Australian Student Environment Network, Engineers Without Borders, the Youth Food Movement, Law Students for a Just Community, the National Indigenous Youth Movement of Australia, the National Union of Students, the Sai Youth (Multi-Faith Youth Network), the Student Organised Network for Architecture, and Youth Christian Students. The AYCC wants the Australian government to: (1) “reduce Australian emissions at home”; (2) “invest in sustainability education”; and (3) “do our fair share internationally [in terms of climate change mitigation].” 1
