ABSTRACT

These statements mirror a general tendency in the climate movement. After the UN conference of Copenhagen the strategic approach of the movement was shifting from moderate to radical forms ofprotest (see for example RTNA 2010). For DeChristopher, this also leads to "confrontation and will involve sacrifice" (Goodell2011). Personal commitment and the readiness to accept sacrifices would be necessary to implement the new strategy and to stop climate change. From this point of view, DeChristopher has become a kind of leading figure or vanguard activist for a new or at least rising approach of climate action.
