ABSTRACT
This chapter begins with an outline of the structure of the post-Soviet Russian economy, as the context for a description of the nature of Russia’s business-government relations. A resourcedominated economy and oligarch-style business go hand in hand, with the struggle over resource rent forming the basis of the relationship between business and government. Those relations in turn provide the context for a debate within Russian policy-making circles over the future shape of the economy.
