ABSTRACT
Communication is usually defi ned as the exchange of information between two agents. Most models of human communication imply an expressive and a receptive side of the process. Exchange of communication implies a capacity to encode (on the expressive side) and to decode (on the receptive side). This basic model is often represented in some variant of Figure 18.1.
