Abstract

The Bahá’í Faith and its precursor, the Bábí movement, both began in Iran and thus many of the important events of Bahá’í history occurred there. In this chapter, an account of the events of Bahá’í history is given for each of the main provinces of Iran: Tehran, Khorasan, Azarbayjan, Qazvin, Khamsih (Zanjan), Mazandaran, Gilan, Gurgan, Kashan, Isfahan, Hamadan, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Fars, Yazd, and Kerman. There is also a description of the manner in which the new religion spread throughout Iran, an account of the phases of persecution it has suffered, the organization and development of Bahá’í communities, and the contribution that the Bahá’ís of Iran have made to the spread of the Bahá’í Faith to the rest of the world.
