ABSTRACT

“Extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits” is an important part of the thought on major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics for the new era. It is the basic principle for China to build the Belt and Road and participate in global governance, and an effective way to build a community of a shared future for mankind. The principles of “extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits” were proposed based on the status quo of global governance failure in the post-financial crisis era. It is based on China’s dual identity as the largest developing country and an emerging power, reflecting the attitude of China as a responsible major country towards actively participating in global governance and promoting international win–win cooperation.
