ABSTRACT

In March 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed the concept of “bridging development strategies” during his visit to Russia. Whilst in Russia, Xi Jinping delivered a speech entitled Follow the Trend of the Times and Promote Peace and Development in the World, in which he pointed out that China and Russia shall “bridge the development strategies of our respective countries and regions in an effort to create still more converging interests and growth areas in bilateral cooperation”. 1 Following that, efforts on bridging development strategies have been widely applied in the realm of bilateral and multilateral relations. The concept of “bridging development strategies” refers to docking connection points and common grounds of development strategies formulated by realities of each country and region, with a purpose of enabling complementarities and common development, and finally achieving shared objectives.
