ABSTRACT

During the period of April 24–25, 2017, the 1st Ministerial Conference of Ancient Civilisations Forum (hereinafter referred to as “the Forum”) was held in Athens, the capital city of Greece, which was jointly sponsored and organised by Greece and China. Representatives from 10 countries—Greece, China, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Italy, India, Mexico, Peru and Bolivia—attended the Forum. In Greece, the Forum is also called “Great Civilizations 10”. 1 Among 10 ten attending countries, 6 other than Mexico and India attached great importance to the Forum by assigning their officials at the level of minister or deputy minister to attend this conference: Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; Sameh Shukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Arabia Republic of Egypt; Nikos Kotzias, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic; Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Ibrahim al-Jaafari, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq; Angelino Alfano, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Italy; Del Solar, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Peru; and Guadalupe Palomeque, Deputy Minister of the Plurinational State of Bolivia. The 1st Ministerial Conference of the Forum was jointly presided over by Minister Nikos Kotzias and Minister Wang Yi.
