ABSTRACT
In this ten-month period in 1973, Williams wrote her choral piece Ave Maris Stella (1973) and her Milton setting Fairest of Stars for soprano and orchestra (1973). The latter was included in an EMI recording of her music, performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and issued under the auspices of the Welsh Arts Council. Maconchy had various performances of recently written work, including her orchestral piece Genesis (1972) and Three Bagatelles for oboe and harpsichord (1972).
