ABSTRACT

During 1971, Maconchy was working on Ariadne (1970–71) for the King’s Lynn Festival that year and her Tenth String Quartet (1971–72) for the 1972 Cheltenham Festival. She also wrote the script for her A Composer Speaks radio programme for the BBC. Nicola LeFanu, like her mother before her, was shortlisted for the Radcliffe Music Award.
