ABSTRACT

When Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai was designated as a United Nations Messenger of Peace by the UN Secretary-General António Guterres in April 2017, the highest honour to have been bestowed on a global citizen, it underscored the importance of girls’ education. While the story of resistance and courage of this particular girl has inspired the world and is symbolic of the struggle for education, particularly of females, it is not uncommon in Pakistan.
