ABSTRACT
Musical phrase structure is usually presented during the second semester of a college-level theory curriculum. Typical textbook examples, usually taken from Western art music, may seem to students like distant relics of a musical past, thereby making period and sentence structures irrelevant to their own music-making experiences. This lesson seeks to engage students with Disney songs, music that they probably heard during their childhood, to reinforce the concepts of small musical structures through active listening.
