Abstract

Concerns for ecclesiological thinking have developed rapidly in recent years, and Pentecostal ecclesiology has become an important area of research. Different themes have been the focus of study, although it remains to draw these together into a comprehensive Pentecostal ecclesiology. This chapter introduces current perspectives and suggests broad ways towards a shared ecclesiology for the Pentecostal movement based upon the theological themes of the Holy Spirit, the gospel, and mission. These themes approach a generous Pentecostal understanding of the church as comprising Spirit-shaped fellowships of gospel mission. The chapter delineates this theme by building on the particular contextual studies of others to provide a standpoint from which to articulate a comprehensive Pentecostal ecclesiology.
