Abstract

In this story, where the rapidly commercializing and developing city – very often with borrowed money as is implied by the name of the Chinese construction company that has barricaded the beach meant to be open to the public – is hemming people in and taking away their ability to breathe freely, a tale is told of fear . It’s of a Tamil girl who had been slipped into Colombo through a process of bribery and knows first-hand that the end of the war doesn’t mean the end of fear for her. She knows that it is important for victory to be maintained by the continuous process of sowing fear in various ways and this fear comes in a form that even a medical student – who knows the facts of bodies and science – cannot decipher. In it she has lost her lover – an opponent who had had a change of heart and has now disappeared .
