ABSTRACT

The National University of Lesotho (NUL) is one of two tertiary institutions offering social work training in Lesotho. NUL has offered the Bachelor of Social Work Degree since the 2001/2002 academic year. This chapter describes the fieldwork practice format and coordination at NUL upon inception and post-programme redesign. It subsequently shares experiences and lessons learnt in the delivery of the fieldwork practice component of the programme along with the possibilities for optimal use of human and other resources while improving training standards. Lessons shared and recommendations put forth are mainly targeted at universities in developing countries planning on and those which recently introduced social work training. Finally, recommendations are made to all social work academia to strengthen fieldwork practice.
