ABSTRACT
This chapter provides detailed analysis of social enterprises, specifically focusing on Work Integration Social Enterprises (WISEs), the most diffused type of social enterprises in Asia. WISEs provide employment for disadvantaged people, and aim to integrate disadvantaged groups of people into society by providing them with work opportunities. By drawing on the recent work of Japanese social enterprises, Laratta explores both the organizational goals and support structures of those organizations.
