ABSTRACT

It is possible to distinguish between three basic approaches to the study of dictionaries for text production: (a) as object of study per se; (b) as expressions of relationship between them and their usefulness for users; and (c) as to their planning and construction. This chapter adopts a different approach to the one exposed by Leroyer in the previous chapter (see Chapter 16). Instead of focusing only on a critical discussion of the same concept (e.g. “dictionary for text production”), we will also analyse existing dictionaries for text production and will offer a description of a dictionary for text production which we are making just now (in July 2016, this dictionary project has around 40,000 completed cards, around 25 percent of the foreseen cards). This chapter must be read in conjunction with Chapters 16 and 18 as most of the arguments discussed by Leroyer and Giacomini also apply in dictionaries for text production.
