ABSTRACT

The Accounting Dictionaries are the result of a joint project involving teams from Centre for Lexicography, Aarhus University in Denmark and International Centre for Lexicography, University of Valladolid (Spain). Each team consists of lexicographers, translators and accounting experts. The dictionaries are based on established principles of specialized lexicography integrating information technology and techniques with focus on providing help that can satisfy the needs for information when people are engaged in specific types of user situations (Bergenholtz and Tarp 2003; Fuertes-Olivera and Tarp 2014). There are at present three printed polyfunctional dictionaries and twenty-six online monofunctional accounting dictionaries, each linked to the same database containing data in Danish, English and Spanish (see References). This chapter will only focus on the online set of these dictionaries.
