ABSTRACT
Today French is geographically spread in a significant number of continents and countries. The geographic dispersal of French has brought the language into daily contact with new usage in Europe (Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg), in North America (Canada, overseas territories, Louisiana), in Africa (Senegal, Ivory Coast, Republic of Congo, etc.), in Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, Indochina) and in the Middle East (mainly in Lebanon).
