ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the Portuguese dictionaries that have been produced in the past two decades. These dictionaries have resulted from the evolution of research in the field of lexicography, terminology, and dictionary making in the Portuguese context. A dictionary is both an important cultural object for the public in general and an essential working tool for translators and those who teach native, second, and foreign languages (see Chapters 11, 18, and 19 of this Handbook).
