ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to discuss why there is need for a resilient turn in planning and focuses upon the question of how it would be possible to institute resilience in planning. It aims to contribute to this debate first, introducing the major concerns of resilience thinking in planning and why recently it became an alternative way of thinking. The second part of the chapter introduces the Istanbul case, with a discussion of how it could be possible to institute resilience into the planning and governance of Istanbul.
