ABSTRACT

In the explosion of literature on financialization, there is a much smaller but growing interest in what the phenomenon means for emerging capitalist economies (ECEs) (Bonizzi 2013; see also Karwowski, this volume). Much of the literature that focuses on the advanced capitalist economies (ACEs) lacks a clear theory of financialization. This absence becomes even more problematic when the lens is used to attempt to describe and understand changes in ECEs.
