ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of feminist and gender studies approaches to financialization. These approaches allow us to consider not only the different effects of financial practices on women, but also the ways in which finance is intertwined with the development of gendered subjectivities. Feminist scholars encounter the privileging of masculinities in finance as not external or spurious, but integral to its practices. Furthermore, looking at gender enables analysts to draw connections between the macro-structural level of global finance and the micro-level of everyday life.
