ABSTRACT
Until the middle of the last century, accurate surveying of linear measurements was very expensive and complicated to carry out. This is why geodetic network structures comprising a minimal amount of measuring lines were chosen. In some cases, geodetic network sides were not available for measuring using mechanical measuring instruments due to natural barriers (ravines, rivers, etc.). Inaccessible distance measurements were a serious issue.
