ABSTRACT

Since the first flight of the Wright Brothers on December 17, 1903, at 10:35 a.m. all the airplanes have been piloted by humans. As flying machines developed, more skilled personnel were required to handle them. A new era that started with the first aircraft that flew purely on turbojet power, the Henkel He178, led to new achievements but also required pilots with better knowledge of those machines (Blom 2010).
