ABSTRACT

This chapter traces the study of the relationship between Latin America and the United States. Approaches have evolved in terms of orientation, theoretical perspective, and methodology. As a political scientist, I spend most – though not all – of my space discussing scholarship in that discipline. I touch on only a minuscule fraction of the thousands of books and articles published on the subject, so by necessity I leave out many such works. 1
