ABSTRACT

This chapter reflects on the European Union’s migration policy. It surveys the most relevant EU legal frameworks, both primary and secondary legislation, distinguishing between those established before and since the so-called “refugee crisis.” It also addresses the pragmatic programs and solutions devised by the EU thus far in the face of the current and complex scenario. The work concludes with an assessment of the status quo, as well as with several tentative considerations regarding the (uncertain?) future of the EU’s migration policies.
