In this chapter, social psychology’s major research findings regarding the role of individual differences on attitudes and attitude change are presented. We describe specific dimensions along which people differ (personality, motivations, chronic attitudes, and naïve theories) and analyze these dimensions in terms of their impact on attitudes and persuasion and the processes by which they have their effects. The review is divided into four main sections.
