ABSTRACT

In this chapter I set the scene of contemporary British-Pakistani feminist theatre. I start with a discussion of representation and self-representation, then offer an overview of British-Asian and British-Pakistani theatre in general, and finally introduce three key British-Pakistani feminist playwrights and discuss their work. The three playwrights on whom I focus are Alia Bano, Nadia Manzoor, and Emteaz Hussain, and I look at how they have engaged with the themes of sexuality, marriage, and domestic violence.
