ABSTRACT

Previous research showed that firms adopt coopetitive strategies in high-tech industries to enhance their capability to quickly and efficiently create and commercialize new technologies. This chapter presents the state of the art in the fields of coopetition strategy and first-mover advantage (FMA) by highlighting the role of resource orchestration as a determinant of FMA. We argue that different approaches of resource orchestration will lead to different benefits/speeds of products’ introduction from coopetitive NPD projects. Finally, we conclude with some theoretical implications and future research directions.
