ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the ability of the St. Louis-based Black Repertory Company to survive from its inception as the Phoenix Theatre Troupe, a group of aspiring young actors at Washington University, to a nationally renowned theatre at the Grandel Square and other regional venues.
