ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to provide a resource for both primary care and behavioral health providers to aid in anxiety screening as part of routine primary care. The subtypes of anxiety disorders along with related risk and prognostic factors and differential diagnosis will be reviewed. Following a thorough review of anxiety screening measures and their psychometric properties, three measures are reviewed in detail along with implications for use in primary care. Last, a case study will detail the implementation of one of these featured measures for diagnosis and treatment of generalized anxiety disorder in an adolescent in the primary care setting.
