ABSTRACT

The interaction between people from the Bactria-Margiana Archaeological Complex (BMAC) and mobile pastoralists during the Bronze Age in the alluvial fan of the Murghab River in southern Turkmenistan is one of the most complex topics I deal with in my research. Though the data we have on this topic is still limited, it is sufficient to question previous hypotheses and to define the dynamic relationship between the two groups. This chapter raises more questions than it brings answers, but I honestly believe that we have finally chosen the right research path and that further investigations will give us the answers we seek.
