ABSTRACT
The interest in psychology is high among people in professional football. With some colleagues, I recently surveyed 75 professional football coaches in the Netherlands about their interest in sport science topics, and the results showed that mental skills was the number one topic they wanted to know more about (Brink et al., 2018). However, in the same survey, conservatism in these coaches’ clubs was perceived as the major barrier to applying the sport sciences in their work.
