ABSTRACT

Egil Olsen is a Norwegian football coach. He has managed a series of club teams in Norway, as well as Wimbledon in England, and the national team of Iraq. However, he is probably best known for having managed the Norway national team. He did this twice, from 1990–98, and again from 2009–13. Under his management Norway reached two World Cups, in 1994 and 1998, and at one point, Norway was ranked number two in the FIFA ranking. Leading a country to these accomplishments in one of the largest sports in the world is quite an achievement, especially given that Norway has a population of around five million people, and it is mostly known for being a winter sports nation.
