ABSTRACT
On 11 February 2014, the Council of the European Union (EU) did not pass a vote to ban Dupont's maize 1507 from European fields. This decision ended a twenty-year long moratorium in agricultural use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the EU. More importantly, the decision occurred despite a large majority of the EU's population being strongly against GMOs, according to past and current opinion polls.
