The important political and economic role of Asia in the global politico-economy is well recognized, not least because of its rapidly rising education levels and economic growth (e.g., Asian Development Bank, 2011; Australian Government, 2012; Cooke, Schuler, & Varma, 2020; Huiyao, 2019; Lagarde, 2016). It is believed that Asian countries, including developing countries such as China and India, are leading the world in digitalization, innovation, and connectivity (Deloitte Insights, 2017).
