Abstract

IntroductionUnderstanding the contribution of talented individuals to society and to organizations has a long history. The specific use of the term “talent management” (TM) has captured attention for over 20 years, but neither the extensive literature on the ethics of human resource management (HRM) (see Alzola, 2018; Deckop, 2006; Greenwood, 2013; Provis, 2010) nor the burgeoning literature on TM have given it much ethical scrutiny (Painter-Morland, Kirk, Deslandes, & Tansley, 2019). This is surprising given that by its very nature it seems vulnerable to selection bias, exploitation of participants, and abuse of power by senior managers.
