Talent management (TM) has been a topical issue among practitioners since 1997 when McKinsey and Company (Michaels, Handfield-Jones, & Axelrod, 2001) warned companies about the upcoming labor shortages and highlighted the significance of attracting, developing, and retaining high-performers in the company's success (McDonnell, Collings, Mellahi, & Schuler, 2017). Corresponding with this increased prominence, TM has received considerable attention within the academic community over the past two decades, resulting in a relatively large body of literature (Amankwah, 2020; De Boeck, Meyers, & Dries, 2018; McDonnell et al., 2017; Meyers et al., 2020).
