In recent decades “talent” has become a commonly used, everyday term. Much of this has been due to the success of the entertainment industry with productions such as X-Factor and America's Got Talent that have been replicated across multiple countries worldwide. These television programs seek to identify individuals who are viewed as possessing abilities beyond the norm in terms of their voice or act and who may go on to be successful acts in the entertainment industry. While there is a strong consistency in format of these shows from country to country the same cannot be said over what is viewed as talent. What one “judge” sees as talented can often differ to other “judges”.
