Abstract

Critical discourse analysis as practiced in Europe is a sound approach to many studies of politics in Europe. Approaches to discourse analysis employing rhetoric, linguistics and socio-linguistics are distinctively more common in the European tradition across the continent. This approach is an important methodological contribution of European scholarship to the global migration studies. The chapter will give an overview of the main concepts and methods employed by European scholars in the field of migration politics. It will attempt to draw a picture of the European research field, developed in four corners of the continent.
