ABSTRACT
The history of Hindu law spans many centuries. As a result, theories and practices of sources of Hindu law should be considered in a plurality of contexts, bearing in mind that, although there have been profound transformations, these mainly concern interaction between the traditional sources of Hindu law and new sources in the colonial period and in contemporary India.
