ABSTRACT

The first obstacle to tackling the issue of marriage in Christian Churches is the difficulty of finding a common doctrine among the different Churches which make up Christianity and within each tradition. An exception is marriage doctrine in the Roman Catholic Church. The Latin Church and Oriental Church form a global community governed by the Holy See. Unity of the doctrine results in the two general laws or Codes, one for the Latin and the other for the Oriental Churches, both of which are approved by the Pope.
