ABSTRACT
The Roman emperor Caracalla was stabbed to death by an assassin, while he was urinating by the roadside during his pilgrimage to the lunar temple. The Japanese dancer Hijikata Tatsumi discovers in the figure of the back of a urinating man, the form of human crisis, at the dawn of the latter half of the twentieth century.
